The Free Economic Zone was created in August 4, 1999 for the period of 30 years by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus. Today 28 enterprises with foreign capital from 10 countries are successfully realizing on the FEZ "Vitebsk" territory. Their total volume of investments is about 44 mil. $. More than 2300 workplaces have been created for the time of our activity.

Conditions of business operating stipulated by the Legislation stimulate the dynamic development of the residents. Thus the activities of the 1st half of 2006 increased significantly in comparison with the same period of the previous year. Foreign trade turnover of the FEZ's residents is 75,3 mil.$ This is 2,36 times more than it was in 2005. Total export is 44, 6 mil.$, 13,9 or 31,1 % of which is exported to the Russian Federation, 68,8 % exported outside of the Commonwealth of Independent States. This fact shows that residents produce competitive products and also expand markets. So among new one there are Polish, German and Baltic States markets. The volume of production in actual sale prices increased 192%. The sum of output per worker increased also. Now it is 60 mil. rubles that is 38,1 more than it was the same period of 2005. Sales profit increased 278,5%, return on sales - 1,8% . 1018, 1 mil. Belarusian rubles were paid as taxes, dues and payments. This is 36,8 % more than it was in 2005. The average monthly salary of residents' workers increased 29%.
